Sidra Medical and Research Center

Education City, Doha, Qatar
With a goal of providing the highest international standards for patient care, teaching and research, the 1.2 million sf Sidra Medical and Research Center will be a 382-bed, all-digital comprehensive medical center offering specialty care for women and children.

The hospital, planned as part of the Qatar Foundation’s 2500-acre Education City project, will serve as the primary teaching venue for the Weill Cornell Medical College.  The hospital will include nine floors devoted to women’s, men’s and children’s acute and intensive care beds, and an extensive diagnostic imaging and interventional imaging suite with dedicated intubation rooms and four suites with interventional MR capabilities.

The project team was chosen to bring best practices and recommendations to the project. Flexibility was a key component of planning a new hospital where staff and physicians will be hired near opening day in 2010. Equipment Collaborative has provided infrastructure requirements for every modality of imaging equipment and provided recommendations for slab depressions and other long-term strategies for flexibility and adaptability.
